En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view.

HBAS’ own plein air enthusiast Brendan Lovelock hosts regular sessions for members of all skill levels, at various locations in the Hobson’s Bay locale. Sessions are untutored and members must feel confident to work independently and provide their own equipment.
